The public will get another opportunity to have an input into the Taumarunui’s town centre revitalisation project.

The plans include big changes for the railway building, a new i-site and new public toilets and provision for parking.

Proposed plans for the Taumarunui Railway Station building include moving the I-SITE to the northern end of the station, and refurbishing the outside of the building.

There will also be provision for space in the Railway building for community groups and a museum.

‘‘When council reconvenes in August, they will be able to consider taking on the lease for all of the building, which would allow these projects to proceed,’’ said committee chair Karen Ngatai.

‘‘While the Ward Committee is keen for momentum to be maintained there are a number of significant things that council and the community still need to consider notably around how any major township revitalisation projects are funded.

‘‘These will be part of the Long Term Plan (LTP) 2018-28 consultation next year.’’
