Valuable life lessons for students
King Country Rams co-captain, Rob Sherson shared a few life lessons at the Taumarunui High School Sports Awards last Wednesday evening.
The awards celebrated sporting achievements and paid tribute to students in a range of disciplines. Students were given a few words of wisdom from Sherson who congratulated them on their success. Returning to his old stomping group, the former Head Boy said sport played an important part in shaping his future. The experience of playing for the Ist XV fuelled his ambition. Winning the Wakato Division Two in 2004 created strong bonds.
‘‘For a small country school, that was quite an achievement.
‘‘I think sport is very important in life.
‘‘It’s a great way to make friendships and I’d say the best friendships I’ve got has come out of playing sport.
‘‘If you think you’ve got the goods, go for it and grab it with two hands. It takes a lot of dedication and a lot of time and effort but it’ll be worth it in the end.’’
