Owhango Alive cel­e­brated the Whaka­papa River - home to the en­dan­gered Whio (blue duck) to mark, World Rivers Day.

About 40 vol­un­teers planted 200 na­tive trees at Ohine­tonga Re­serve.

Guest speaker Nick Singers, a free­lance Ecol­o­gist and Con­ser­va­tion En­tre­pre­neur stressed the im­por­tance of keep­ing data to mon­i­tor con­ser­va­tion ef­forts.
