COUNCIL CEO TO STAY
The Selwyn District Council has confirmed a two year extension to David Ward’s contract as chief executive. Ward was appointed to the role in 2014. Legally, the chief executive’s contract may be extended for two years. The role is required to be re-advertised after a period of five years.
Jim Lischner has resigned from the board of the Ashburton Trust. The board’s chair Fay Watson said Lischner had been an integral part in helping guide the board on its way to a new business model for the Ashburton Trust, and the Trust thanked him for his wisdom, guidance and business acumen over the past four years.
Mountains of clothes for kids have been donated to Christchurch Hospital’s Ward 22, thanks to Mid Cantabrians. Jackie Dwyer, whose son Maddox spent time on the ward a few weeks ago, saw a need for the hospital to have clothes – particularly pyjamas and underwear – on hand for kids who find themselves in hospital on short notice, as well as necessities for parents, like deodorant. Dwyer was inundated, and overwhelmed, by the response and the donations received, as were the hospital staff.
