Ashburton is a great place to call home

Selwyn and Ashburton Outlook - - YOUR PAPER, YOUR PLACE - COUNCIL

The Ashburton District is a great place to live, according to 97 per cent of locals who were surveyed in the 2017 annual residents’ survey.

Results of the survey are now available to the public, after independent company Research First, who conducted the survey, presented the results to council at their meeting last week.

A summary shows council has met or exceeded 20 of its 24 satisfaction measures, an increase of four measures on the previous year. Amongst the results, 76 per cent of residents were satisfied with the way rates are spent overall - an increase of 12 per cent from 2016.

Nine out of 10 people surveyed were satisfied with council staff, up from 84 per cent on the previous year, while three quarters of residents were satisfied with council’s overall performance.

Council chief executive Andrew Dalziel said the annual survey is an integral tool for council to evaluate its services and he’s pleased this year’s survey has seen marked improvements.

The survey, along with previous year’s surveys are available on the council website www.ashbur
