Coleman semi-finals set
Southbridge locked away the Murray Cooper Shield for the season and now set their sights on defending the Coleman Shield in Ellesmere senior rugby.
The defending champions claimed a 22-13 win over Prebbleton at home on Sunday, after all rugby was cancelled on Saturday. The senior and division 2 matches affecting the playoffs and JAB finals were moved to Sunday.
Southbridge will meet Prebbleton again in the semi-finals this weekend while Darfield hosts Waihora in the other knockout match.
Darfield wracked up a big win over Rolleston running in 14 tries to win 82-0 to secure a home semifinal.
Division 2 had a shake up with West Melton sneaking into the semi-finals
West Melton’s 30-13 win over Kirwee had them leapfrog Banks Peninsula after they lost to Diamond Harbour 12-14.
Lincoln finished top of the table after a 38-5 win over Hornby and will host West Melton.
Springston will host Southbridge-Leeston in the other semi-final. The two sides were meant to play on Sunday but Springston defaulted.
In the lower grades, Springston won the Ellesmere-Mid Canterbury Colts final with a 16-10 win over Prebbleton while Lincoln edged Southbridge 20-19 in the Ellesmere-Mid Canterbury U14.5 final.
