Cole­man semi-fi­nals set

South­bridge locked away the Murray Cooper Shield for the sea­son and now set their sights on de­fend­ing the Cole­man Shield in Ellesmere se­nior rugby.

The de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons claimed a 22-13 win over Preb­ble­ton at home on Sun­day, af­ter all rugby was can­celled on Satur­day. The se­nior and division 2 matches af­fect­ing the play­offs and JAB fi­nals were moved to Sun­day.

South­bridge will meet Preb­ble­ton again in the semi-fi­nals this week­end while Darfield hosts Wai­hora in the other knock­out match.

Darfield wracked up a big win over Rolle­ston run­ning in 14 tries to win 82-0 to se­cure a home semi­fi­nal.

Division 2 had a shake up with West Mel­ton sneak­ing into the semi-fi­nals

West Mel­ton’s 30-13 win over Kir­wee had them leapfrog Banks Penin­sula af­ter they lost to Di­a­mond Har­bour 12-14.

Lin­coln fin­ished top of the ta­ble af­ter a 38-5 win over Hornby and will host West Mel­ton.

Springston will host South­bridge-Lee­ston in the other semi-fi­nal. The two sides were meant to play on Sun­day but Springston de­faulted.

In the lower grades, Springston won the Ellesmere-Mid Can­ter­bury Colts fi­nal with a 16-10 win over Preb­ble­ton while Lin­coln edged South­bridge 20-19 in the Ellesmere-Mid Can­ter­bury U14.5 fi­nal.

South­bridge Ratu Lu­ven­i­toga makes a run down the side­line against Preb­ble­ton.
