Net­ball’s semi fi­nal­ists de­cided

The four teams to bat­tle for the ti­tle of Mid Can­ter­bury Net­ball’s best for 2017 have been de­cided.

Mid Can­ter­bury Net­ball’s premier com­pe­ti­tion heads into its busi­ness end on Thurs­day night, with the semi-fi­nals see­ing un­beaten Celtic A tak­ing on Methven A, and Ash­bur­ton Col­lege A tak­ing on Hamp­stead A.

In last week’s fi­nal round, Col­lege A and Methven A squared off in a must-win match if they were to avoid fron­trun­ners Celtic A in the semis, and Col­lege A came out on top, win­ning 29-25.

Hamp­stead sealed their place in the semi-fi­nals with a 31-18 win over United A, while in the re­main­ing match of the round Celtic A main­tained their win­ning form with a strong 38-24 win over South­ern A.

Celtic A and Methven A will play semi-fi­nal one at 6.30pm on Thurs­day at the EA Net­works Cen­tre, with Col­lege A and Hamp­stead A to fol­low at 7.30pm.

Mean­while in Sel­wyn, Lin­coln A is con­tin­u­ing its strong sea­son af­ter three games in the fi­nal round, pro­duc­ing a con­vinc­ing 86-26 win over West Mel­ton A on Sat­ur­day.

Sec­ond placed Green­park A were too good for Hal­swell A, win­ning 68-43, while Broad­field A beat South­bridge A 65-32.

The next round fea­tures a top of the ta­ble clash be­tween Lin­coln A and Green­park A, while South­bridge A play West Mel­ton A and Broad­field A take on Hal­swell A.
