The owners of this modern Parnell home recently moved to Auckland from Canada. With two young children and not enough time to nd every last piece of furniture, the couple opted for a complimentary home consultation with BoConcept’s Auckland interior designer Karina Cabrera.

After visiting the house to measure the space and nd out more about the family’s needs, Cabrera helped them visualise their new home by sketching it with BoConcept’s 3D Home Creator and virtually showcasing furniture options. “They were thrilled to see their home take shape,” say Cabrera.

The two living areas were most in need of attention. The rst is frequently used in summer because of the outdoor pool. Being open plan, it also has a fully functional dining area.

The biggest challenge was nding the best layout to optimise a view of the pool. The azure L-shaped couch chosen stands out against the fresh grey and white colour scheme to draw the eye out to the blue water of the pool. “It’s amazing how something as simple as a colour scheme can change a space.”

Bearing in mind their children, the sofa was customised with durable upholstery, which still looks, and feels, of a high-quality.

The second lounge is mainly used for formal entertaining and requires a more demure palette. It is styled in neutral colours of grey, dusty blue and black to ensure the view of greenery outside remained the main feature through the large windows. A pop of orange and red, in an occasional chair and curtain respectively, injects some more personality into the home.
