With skincare leading the way in the beauty industry, it’s no wonder makeup has started utilising minerals. “Mineral makeup used to be made with plain colours that underperformed,” says organic makeup brand Inika’s beauty expert Rachel Tigel. “These days, you can get healthy cosmetics that perform well and don’t compromise your skin or your look.” Mineral foundation is partly on the rise because of the increasing availability of prescriptive products for skin problems. “Not only is mineral makeup kind to sensitive skin, it’s also non-comedegenic – another beauty buzzword meaning it doesn’t clog pores and lead to blemishes like other products can,” says Tigel. “Minerals also absorb excess oil so if you have oily skin, a mineral foundation will be your saviour.”
