The prevailing trend in fashion this season is red – and it’s no surprise that artists, too, are drawn to this powerful colour of passion. Take Auckland artist Reece King’s Can Hear It painting, for example, which uses high-contrast tones to make a strong statement.

Luckily, there’s no shortage of fabulous red garments from New Zealand brands this season, including Rachel Mills. Team fiery pieces with graphic, linear pants (which also happen to be flatteringly elongating) and you have a dynamic duo that will take you anywhere – just add striking red lipstick and a classic trench when you step outside. Indoors, ensure your home is equally impactful with detailed black and white furnishings and a healthy stash of gold that can live beside any outlandish art. This look is not for wallflowers.
