FUTURE LOOKS BRIGHT

South Canterbury Herald - - YOUR PAPER, YOUR PLACE -

As people become more conscious of looking after the environment, environmentalists are becoming younger.

Recycling, re-using and upcycling are all part of keeping itmes out of the landfill and giving them a longer or different life.

South School’s Pareora Campus is a case in point as the pupils have taken to upcycling furniture.

Not only do they fix the pieces which may have a missing leg but they make them look better or more modern than they were.

Along the way, they learn importrant skills for life. They also develop a sense of how we must all come to consider what we consume and how it may impact on the environment.

Fundraising is big in South Canterbury with many groups each week busy organising events or activities. They all seem to reach their goal or close to it which shows just how generous the community and local businesses are.
