VOTES AND TIMARU

South Canterbury Herald - - YOUR LOCAL NEWS -

There are just 10 days until the general election on September 23, and it’s not too late to enrol if you haven’t already.

Those aged between 25 and 29 appear to have the lowest take up of enrolments according to the latest figures. They have until September 22 to get enrolled.

To encourage everyone who is eligible to vote, the election office has made the process as easy as possible. The choices are: complete a form online, free text your name and address to 3676, call free 0800 36 76 56 or go into any PostShop.

With a party vote as well as an electorate vote you not only get to choose which party you want to govern but who you want to represent your area. The voting booths in each area will be open from 9am to 7pm but early voting is available if you will be outside your electorate on the day.

On a totally different subject there appears to be a gap in the tourism market as overseas visitors snap up Boomerang Bags because they were the only items they could find with ‘Timaru’ written on them.
