An all American weekend
Timaru to go all American as cars go on display.
‘‘We have had enquiries from throughout New Zealand for the event,’’ Weir said.
‘‘We won’t know until the weekend how many will turn up and from where.’’
Last year the event attracted 160 vehicles on display on the Sunday and about 60 on the cruise on the Saturday night, she said.
‘‘It’s a good fun event for a good cause.’’
She said the Sunday display was always a popular event with the public, and there will be entertainment and food stalls on the bay as part of the display.
On the Saturday night there will be a cruise night beginning at 3pm. Participants will meet at the north end of the Caroline Bay Car Park. The cruise will depart at 3.30pm, finishing with a get-together and sausage sizzle. Later that night a drive-in movie will be held at Levels Raceway and costs $25 per vehicle. The movie night will begin at 7.30pm and all vehicles are welcome.
‘‘We trialled it last year as a first and then decided to open it to any vehicle this year.’’
An all American vehicle display will take place at the Caroline Bay Car Park from 10am to 2pm on Sunday. The display costs $15 per vehicle entry and a gold coin donation for public entry.
