FROM THE STAR

South Taranaki Star - - YOUR PAPER, YOUR PLACE -

What fantastic news for Taranaki to be named as the second best region in the world to visit.

And we didn’t even vote on it. Lonely Planet is the foremost travel authority in the world and its endorsement will result in many more visitors to our region. It will mean more business for so many people, not just those directly involved in the tourist trade, but also cafes and stores etc.

It will be up to all of us to make sure that visitors, whether from overseas or New Zealand, have a memorable stay and take home only good memories of the people and places in Taranaki.

While we have always known what a great place we have here, other New Zealanders tend to give us a miss. Having the main route north blocked by slips several times a year doesn’t help us either.

Perhaps we will have a case to present to NZT for them to get their act together and give us a route that is safer and easier to negotiate. Thank goodness the Normanby overbridge has gone.
