South Taranaki Star - - OUT & ABOUT -

Two Taranaki Regional Council’s committees each have three more members after new iwi appointments took up their positions last week. Under the terms of recent Treaty of Waitangi settlements, all eight Iwi in the region were involved in the selection process, with the appointees chosen to ensure each committee has connections from the three Taranaki waka — Aotea, Kurahaupo¯ and

Tokomaru. The appointees act in the interests of the committee they are part of, while bringing an Iwi perspective to the table. The new consents and regulatory members are Fay Mulligan, Keith Holswich and Hoani Eriwata, and the new policy and planning members are Emily Bailey, John Hooker and Mitchell Ritai.

The Hawera Division Two football team Mark Frost Electrical Hawera, made short work of its opponent NPBHS Second 11, beating it 7-1. It dominated procession and territory and scored three times in the first half through Jack Adams, Matty Kelbrick and Sam Stewart . In the second half Hawera continued its dominance and added four more goals through Ross Hepburn, Matty Kelbrick, Klinton Hunt and Phil Le Marquand. Hawera conceded an own goal late in the piece but apart from that there was little attack from the opposition. This week the team plays the final of the Nimmo’s Cup against Inglewood at Eltham with a midday kick off.
