FROM THE STAR

South Taranaki Star - - YOUR LOCAL NEWS -

I, like practically everyone else, have had more than enough of this wet, wet, wet. They weren’t a bad band but as a weather forecast this sucks.

With so much water underfoot and overhead, we are severely limited in our activities and as for trying to get clothes dry without increasing the power bill to horrendous heights, well forget it. This is not something we need for the school holidays.

The bigger problem is that this bad weather gets into our heads, it makes us depressed and sorry for ourselves. It also makes us snappy with those around us, even though that is not normally our personality.

We drove to Auckland and back at the weekend and on each side of the road paddocks were under water. Young lambs were skipping to avoid the puddles rather than celebrating the joys of spring. Cows and calves were trying to avoid the puggy patches and large numbers of paddocks were just too wet to allow the animals on.

With any luck, the weather will brighten and the kids can enjoy the holidays.
