Ingenious responses

Our meeting this month began with a 10-minute exercise – write something that begins with ‘He smiled as he closed the gate.’

Well, as always, when challenged the creative juices flow. We had some ingenious themes to this heading.

The reading of the monthly project followed. The subject was Freedom, and again there were some interesting stories about freedom. Of course freedom means different things to different people, so this, too, was a varied selection, with one member somehow managing to include the word in the final chapter of the novel she has been writing for the last two years.

The next meeting will be on Thursday October 19 at noon. Bring your lunch and we will share a chat as we eat. As usual, this will be at the Stratford Community House, 52 Juliet Street, Stratford. The subject for October is a story or poem about neighbourhood support. It can be fact or fiction.

If you like writing of any kind do come along and try us out. Bring something you have written if you would like to. We are a fun-loving group who write because we enjoy it. Everyone is welcome.
