CLOSE CALL: On Sunday afternoon emergency services in Tokoroa were called to this one-car crash.

The accident at around 3pm involved a stationwagon which ran off the road on SH32 south of Tokoroa.

At least one occupant of the car had to be taken to hospital for treatment.

Two fire appliances were called out from Tokoroa. However, due to communications errors they were sent to the accident via Jack Henry Rd and a forestry road adding several minutes to their response time.

Thankfully the car’s several occupants did not need firefighter assistance to get out of their car.

The cause of the accident is not yet known though it had been raining before to the crash.
