Healthy knowledge

South Waikato News - - OPINION -

This is a time of great opportunity. There needs to be discussion about the candidates for the Waikato District Health Board.

The healthcare industry in the Waikato is one of the largest businesses and one of the biggest employers.

This is the time when we have the chance to influence the future direction of healthcare.

There has been some discussion in the rural media suggesting that rural people should only vote for rural candidates.

I would suggest that rural people should ask questions as they vote for the WDHB.

What skills or qualifications in health does this person have?

What is commitment level? What other roles is this person trying to fill?

What is their history in health innovation and service delivery to all communities?

Is this person passionate about healthcare and its delivery?

I hope voters take the chance to read closely the election booklet and internet search candidates to find more out about them.

This is the time we can make a difference to our communities.
