Have a go with the In­volve plan

In­volve 2010 runs through the first half of Oc­to­ber, in­clud­ing the sec­ond half of the school hol­i­days.

In­volve is an op­por­tu­nity for com­mu­nity groups to show what they do. Its goals are to con­nect peo­ple and bring res­i­dents to­gether to try new ac­tiv­i­ties with the help of com­mu­nity groups, clubs and or­gan­i­sa­tions.

It pro­vides an op­por­tu­nity for groups to get oth­ers in­volved with what they do and for South Waikato res­i­dents to try some­thing new.

So what are some of the events on of­fer for youth?

Flu­oro rave night: This fundraiser for the Pu­taruru Youth Cen­tre is at The Plaza on Oc­to­ber 2. 11 years and un­der are wel­come from 4-6.30pm. 12 years and over from 7-10.30pm. The theme is white shirts and flu­oro colours.

Youth Row: Pit your strength against the Row Box – a spe­cial­ly­made row­ing ma­chine. The free event at NOW Youth Park on Oc­to­ber 9 from 10am un­til 2pm will also fea­ture a sausage siz­zle and kapa haka per­for­mances.

Archery – Have a Shot: Toa Ora Archery Club is host­ing an open day on Oc­to­ber 3 from 10am un­til noon. The event will pro­vide a chance for those new to the sport to have a go. It’s at the cricket club rooms at Toko­roa me­mo­rial sports­grounds.

10 x 10 Art Ex­hi­bi­tion: Art on Main in Ti­rau is hold­ing an art ex­hi­bi­tion from Oc­to­ber 2-10.

Art House in Ac­tion: The art house on Ara­puni St will be open dur­ing the school hol­i­days and peo­ple are in­vited to visit and join in fun hands-on art en­rich­ment ac­tiv­i­ties along with the chil­dren. Par­tic­i­pants need to be six years and older.

Girl Guides: South Waikato Girl Guides are open­ing the doors dur­ing In­volve. Sev­eral times dur­ing Oc­to­ber par­ents and daugh­ters will have an op­por­tu­nity to come to the guides hall on Clyde St, Toko­roa, to see what the girls do.
