Get Involved – have a go

South Waikato News - - NEWS -

More than 100 community events are planned for Involve ’10.

The annual South Waikato festival runs from October 2 to 16 and is a chance for community groups to showcase what they do.

Involve is an opportunity for community groups, clubs and sporting organisations to showcase what they do.

‘ ‘ Voluntary groups are a life blood of our communities,’’ South Waikato District Council community development manager Amanda Hema said.

‘‘They increase community cohesion and pride while supporting the retention of services and opportunities.

‘‘We can’t expect fantastic towns if we don’t commit to building them and these groups are a big part of that.’’

There are more than 100 events planned for Involve ’ 10 including art exhibitions, cycling trips, rave parties, archery, school holiday programmes, girl guides, circuit training, indoor and outdoor bowls, dancing, triathlon, poker run, martial arts, youth rowing and horse riding.

‘‘Involve ’ 10 will be heard on radio, read in papers, seen on posters and enjoyed by you – but only if you get involved. Make the most of the chance to try something new,’’ said Mrs Hema.
