Fam­ily looks to di­ver­sify

Pu­taruru’s best known dairy fam­ily is look­ing out­side the district for new op­por­tu­ni­ties.

The rea­sons be­hind the idea are ex­plained on page 17 of to­day’s Ru­ral De­liv­ery.

In other sto­ries in Ru­ral De­liv­ery Sir Henry con­firms on page 16 that he is stand­ing again for a fourth term on the Fon­terra board.

On page 18 we look at a doc­toral stu­dent who is work­ing on a method of eas­ily test­ing how ef­fi­ciently cows are turn­ing grass into milk.

On page 22 we have a re­port on a new de­vice for scar­ing birds away from farm build­ings and most im­por­tantly trac­tors, where they are known to cause fires.

And on page 26 we re­port that LIC has now added year­lings to its team of sires.
