Tokoroa CIB are investigating the robbery of the Lomond Dairy in Tokoroa on Sunday.
Police said at 12.50pm an offender entered the shop and demanded money from the shopkeeper.
The shopkeeper had not initially understood the demands and the offender then grabbed the cash register off the counter causing it to drop on the floor and break open.
He then grabbed the money and fled on foot from the dairy into Crathie Crescent, Tokoroa.
The offender is described as a male Maori or Pacific Islander about 18 to 20 years old.
He was wearing a striped, hooded sweatshirt and shorts.
‘‘ This robber has been brazen in his crime and when he hasn’t got his own way he resorted to using force on property,’’ Detective Sergeant Kevan Verry said.
‘‘ This behaviour is concerning to the police and this man must be located before he offends again.
‘‘ I am certain that someone in Tokoroa will recognise the offender in the photo and I urge them to contact us.
‘‘ The community’s help is going to be crucial in solving this crime and all infor- mation will be treated with confidence.’’
