Vocalist seeks title
Country music fans in their hundreds are expected to pack Rotorua’s newly-refurbished Civic Theatre on 2 October as New Zealand searches for the best of the best up-and-coming performers.
Among those taking the stage and vying for awards is Tokoroa High School teacher Keinan Ngapo.
Mr Ngapo will perform at the show. He is also up against other regional title winners for the the overall New Zealand Country Music Entertainer of the Year title.
If successful he will represent New Zealand and Tokoroa at the trans-Tasman Country Music Awards in Norfolk Island in May 2011.
The show will also feature NZ country music legends The Warratahs, with 2009 overall winners The South Islanders, and 2009 overall section winners.
The event will see competitors do their best to impress judges in an afternoon and evening show. Each show is different.
This is the fourth year that Rotorua has hosted the awards, which have been going for 31 years.
The matinee show starts at 1pm, with the evening show starting at 7pm.
