Big name rock acts crank up amps for Big Day Out next year
The amps are being cranked up for the Big Day Out 2011, with big name rock acts Tool, Rammstein, Deftones, Shihad, Iggy and the Stooges and The Black Keys all confirmed for next year’s event.
The music festival, to be held at Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland on Friday January 21, will also see futuristic hip-hopper MIA, dance punks LCD Soundsystem, rapper Lupe Fiasco, Nick Cave’s Grinderman, rocker Andrew WK, Scottish alternative icons Primal Scream, electronica noise-lovers Crystal Castles and Brazilian party-starters CSS performing.
The return of several major rock acts, especially German shockmetallers Rammstein and Sacramento band Deftones, will please Big Day Out fans.
And the inclusion of Tool will bring smiles to the faces of those who saw the mysterious metal act headline the 2007 event.
Other bands confirmed in today’s first line-up announcement include Birds of Tokyo, Airbourne, Plan B, Ratatat, John Butler Trio, Wolfmother, Jim Jones Revue, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Bloody Beetroots Death Crew 77, Booka Shade, Die Antwoord and Vitalic.
Kiwi acts The Naked and Famous, Six60, I Am Giant, Kids of 88, Die!Die!Die!, Bulletproof and Street Chant will also play.
