Am­bas­sadors proud of award

The ef­forts of the Pu­taruru Par­ents Cen­tre were recog­nised at the Par­ents Cen­tre Na­tional Fo­rum in Welling­ton last month.

The cen­tre re­ceived the Best Am­bas­sador award and Pu­taruru Par­ents Cen­tre pres­i­dent Shona Cas­sels said the it was a ‘‘sur­prise’’ but the com­mit­tee felt it was de­served.

‘‘The cen­tre’s come a long way in the last few years,’’ she said.

Cen­tre mem­ber­ship of­fi­cer Kel­lie Cle­ments said the award showed the cen­tre was a good am­bas­sador in the com­mu­nity. ‘‘The judges felt we showed that by the friend­ship and sup­port we of­fer.

‘‘The com­mu­nity know we’re here now and we re­ally ap­pre­ci­ate the help they give us,’’ Mrs Cas­sels said.

The par­ents cen­tre of­fers a range of ser­vices in­clud­ing play groups, a li­brary of par­ent­ing ma­te­rial, ed­u­ca­tion cour­ses, pre-natal classes, the loan of items for ba­bies and dis­counts at such busi­nesses as Unichem and Baby Fac­tory.
