Ambassadors proud of award
The efforts of the Putaruru Parents Centre were recognised at the Parents Centre National Forum in Wellington last month.
The centre received the Best Ambassador award and Putaruru Parents Centre president Shona Cassels said the it was a ‘‘surprise’’ but the committee felt it was deserved.
‘‘The centre’s come a long way in the last few years,’’ she said.
Centre membership officer Kellie Clements said the award showed the centre was a good ambassador in the community. ‘‘The judges felt we showed that by the friendship and support we offer.
‘‘The community know we’re here now and we really appreciate the help they give us,’’ Mrs Cassels said.
The parents centre offers a range of services including play groups, a library of parenting material, education courses, pre-natal classes, the loan of items for babies and discounts at such businesses as Unichem and Baby Factory.
