Pro­fes­sion­als ex­plain lat­est ini­tia­tives

At the monthly Toko­roa Coun­cil of So­cial Ser­vices open fo­rum pro­fes­sion­als had the op­por­tu­nity to ex­plain any ini­tia­tives they are in­volved in.

TCOSS health co-or­di­na­tor Mar­garet Bell listed the events for Mental Health Aware­ness Week this week.

In­land Rev­enue Depart­ment com­mu­nity re­la­tion­ships rep­re­sen­ta­tive Ed­ward Nathan has been car­ry­ing out work­shops with col­leagues around the changes in GST which came into ef­fect last week.

Com­mu­nity Waikato’s Jenny Patch­ing spoke about a train­ing day by the Fundrais­ing In­sti­tute of New Zealand to be held in Ro­torua and will cover dif­fer­ent meth­ods of fundrais­ing.

Com­mu­nity Health and Grey Power’s Graewyn O’Sul­li­van passed on a mes­sage from Age Con­cern’s Lyn­d­say Bene­field about the Shop­ping Scheme which is an ini­tia­tive to as­sist el­derly who are un­able to get out and do their shop­ping. Age Con­cern in Hamil­ton runs a scheme where it funds some­one to take a client shop­ping; the helper is re­im­bursed $ 15.50 for their time and ef­fort.

The next open fo­rum will be held on Oc­to­ber 27.
