Spring pollen alert

South Waikato News - - NEWS/HEALTH -

The Asthma Foundation is reminding New Zealanders that although it might not always feel like it, spring is here, and that means higher pollen counts and hay fever, which may cause asthma.

It is essential for people with asthma to be aware that this can be a difficult time of year. Pollen can trigger asthma attacks Asthma Foundation chief executive Jane Patterson said.

For this reason it is really important that people use their preventer medication as prescribed.

And, an asthma self-management plan is a good idea too.

If you are troubled by hay fever talk to your doctor about possible treatments.
