Think pink at charity charity lake walk
Lake Moananui will be flooded with pink on Friday when the Tokoroa Pink Walk takes place.
Registrations for the Pink Walk will begin around 4.30pm at the entrance on Maraetai Rd. It is being organised by the South Waikato Physical Activity and Nutrition Coalition.
The group is made up of representatives from Sport Waikato, South Waikato Pacific Islands Health Committee, Raukawa Charitable Trust and South Waikato YMCA.
South Waikato Pacific Island Health Committee pacific community karitane, nutrition, physical activity co-ordinator Mereaumate Vano says the walk encourages people to support breast cancer awareness and to lead healthy lifestyles.
New Zealand statistics for breast cancer shows that 2500 women are diagnosed annually and over 600 women die each year. The number of people on the register with a South Waikato postcode at time of diagnosis is currently 81. The dates of diagnosis range from 2005 to October 2009.
