Top golf enjoyed in event
Some of the best golfers from around the North Island hit the fairways in Tokoroa over the weekend for the Planet Computers $10,000 Classic.
The two-day event began on Saturday featuring 108 competitors in two men’s divisions and one women’s event.
Convener Shirley Buckley said the level of this year’s play was tremendous.
‘‘It was fabulous, there was a great level of play. It exceeded last year. We had a good group of young players and the level of play was very high.’’
The three overall winners of the competition were Chantelle Cassidy in the Women’s Division hitting a 154. Men’s Division Two winner was Mangakino golfer Jimmy Noo with 162 and runner-up was Wayne Sinclair from Tokoroa with 166.
Putaruru golfer Justin Morris won Men’s Division One with a gross of 142.
The event also included a Garden Graphics Shootout competition with Putaruru golfer Louise Wallace winning the women’s section and Tokoroa golfer Grant Forlong reigning supreme in Men’s Division One.
