Top golf en­joyed in event

Some of the best golfers from around the North Is­land hit the fair­ways in Toko­roa over the week­end for the Planet Com­put­ers $10,000 Clas­sic.

The two-day event be­gan on Satur­day fea­tur­ing 108 com­peti­tors in two men’s di­vi­sions and one women’s event.

Con­vener Shirley Buck­ley said the level of this year’s play was tremen­dous.

‘‘It was fab­u­lous, there was a great level of play. It ex­ceeded last year. We had a good group of young play­ers and the level of play was very high.’’

The three over­all win­ners of the com­pe­ti­tion were Chantelle Cas­sidy in the Women’s Di­vi­sion hit­ting a 154. Men’s Di­vi­sion Two win­ner was Man­gakino golfer Jimmy Noo with 162 and run­ner-up was Wayne Sin­clair from Toko­roa with 166.

Pu­taruru golfer Justin Mor­ris won Men’s Di­vi­sion One with a gross of 142.

The event also in­cluded a Gar­den Graph­ics Shootout com­pe­ti­tion with Pu­taruru golfer Louise Wal­lace win­ning the women’s sec­tion and Toko­roa golfer Grant For­long reign­ing supreme in Men’s Di­vi­sion One.

IN FULL SWING: Toko­roa golfer Chantelle Cas­sidy was in ter­rific form at the Planet Com­put­ers $10,000 Clas­sic where she com­peted with women twice her age.
