College upbeat with Motown
The sounds of the Jackson Five, Diana Ross and The Supremes, Lionel Ritchie and Gladys Knight and The Pips have been ringing out from Putaruru College Hall this week.
Students have been preparing for their show Motown Fever which takes the stage from Tuesday until Thursday next week.
More than 20 students are involved in the production which is likened to a cabaret show.
Students will perform 26 songs from Motown legends with backing from a live band of their peers. The show is thought to be a first of its kind for the school.
Rehearsals have been happening for six weeks and are taking place daily this week.
The show begins on Tuesday with a matinee for school students. That evening there is a show for those over 18 which includes dinner and a licensed bar. Two more performances follow on Wednesday and Thursday for all ages.
Tickets are available from Putaruru College.
