Support for special Olympians
A special olympics’ fun day for people with intellectual disabilities was held as part of Involve ’10 this month.
Students from Tokoroa and Forest View high schools helped the athletes with their ball skills during the competition.
Special Olympics New Zealand Central North Island regional sports co-ordinator Colleen Black was lending her support as officials are enthusiastic to establish a special olympics group in Tokoroa.
‘‘What we want to do is set up activities for these young people and have regular competitions for the special olympics. The idea is to form a sub group so members could interact with other North Island clubs,’’ Ms Black said.
