Big Weekend looming
Tokoroa residents need to put a ring around December 4 and 5 on their calendars as plans for the Tokoroa Big Weekend are announced.
The two days of events will once again involve Tokoroa’s Christmas parade and A&P Show held together on a Saturday.
The following day the Council of Ministers will hold their traditional Carols in the Park event from 6pm until 9pm.
The weekend is being organised by three Tokoroa groups, City Lions, A& P Society and the Council of Ministers, in place of the defunct Tokoroa business association TANGS.
In an expanded Christmas parade there will be stalls and entertainment set up in the Tokoroa business district from 8.30am.
The parade itself gets under way at 11am running down Bridge St and ending at Leith Place.
From there free buses will run out to the Tokoroa Memorial Sportsgrounds where the A&P Show will take place.
The favourites are returning to the A&P Show including the Miss Showgirl competitions, Miss Princess, the golden axe wood chopping competitions and pig racing.
The Home Industries sec- tion will involve competitions for sewing, cooking, home brew, flowers, vegetables, jams, preserves, recycled objects and photography.
Entertainment will be provided by South Waikato performers.
BIG DAY: The Tokoroa Christmas Parade and A&P Show will again be held on the same Saturday in 2010.
