De­sign set for de­ci­sion

The South Waikato indoor sports com­plex de­sign de­ci­sion is due next month.

Plans are with the South Waikato District Coun­cil from the four com­pa­nies vy­ing to de­sign the fa­cil­ity.

A de­ci­sion on which de­sign will be picked for the $ 6mil­lion cen­tre will be made by a nine-per­son com­mit­tee set for a De­cem­ber 1 meet­ing which coun­cil chief ex­ec­u­tive David Hall said would be closed to the pub­lic to pro­tect com­mer­cial sen­si­tiv­i­ties.

The com­mit­tee is: Mr Hall, mayor Neil Sin­clair, deputy mayor Jenny Shat­tock, coun­cil parks and prop­erty man­ager Greg Shaw, Helen Dahm and Bruce Nairn from the South Waikato Sports and Leisure Board, Sh­eryle Kirner from plan­ning con­sul­tants RDT Pa­cific, Michael King of SGL Group and Ro­torua District Coun­cil events and venues gen­eral man­ager Peter McLeod.

The com­mit­tee’s choice will go be­fore a closed coun­cil meet­ing on De­cem­ber 9.
