Residents of several Tokoroa streets were evacuated from their homes a week ago after a man threatened to blow up his house.
Emergency services raced to the area around the intersection of East Grampian St and Balmoral Dr at about 6.30pm on November 2.
Residents of the surrounding area were evacuated from their homes after police had received a call a man was threatening to blow his house up using gas.
A resident, who did not want to be named, said after a while a strong smell of gas could be detected from where she stood outside the cordon.
She could hear police talking to the man on a loud speaker, asking him to come out from his home.
He was eventually arrested and many residents were not allowed back to their homes until midnight said another wit- ness. A large number of police including armed offenders personnel, firefighters and St John staff were at the scene.
