De­serv­ing schol­ars

Three year 13 For­est View High School stu­dents have each been awarded a David John­stone Char­i­ta­ble Trust Schol­ar­ship.

Each stu­dent will re­ceive $5000 to as­sist them with their ter­tiary stud­ies.

Prin­ci­pal Richard Craw­ford said all three stu­dents were de­serv­ing re­cip­i­ents and that he looked for­ward to ob­serv­ing their progress at ei­ther the Uni­ver­sity of Waikato or the Waikato In­sti­tute of Technology.

He said that he felt im­mensely proud to see the Toko­roa com­mu­nity rep­re­sented among a group of year 13 achievers through­out the Waikato.

Thomas Dun­can will study sci­ence, Olivia Walker ed­u­ca­tion and Amy Ni­chol­son is tak­ing art next year.

All three stu­dents were ex­cited about start­ing their ter­tiary stud­ies in the Waikato and were grate­ful for the as­sis­tance that the trust has awarded them.

The schol­ar­ships were es­tab­lished in 1996 un­der the pro­vi­sions of a char­i­ta­ble trust formed by the late David John­stone, a prom­i­nent Waikato farmer.

The schol­ar­ships are ad­min­is­tered by Guardian Trust.
