South Waikato News - - ENTERTAINMENT - By NICKI DAVIDSON,

Matamata Chronicle If the music of Roy Orbison, Buddy Holly, Abba or Johnny Cash makes you want to get up and dance, you won’t want to miss the Night of the Stars Variety Show on November 20.

Entertainer Tony Wellington, who won his heat as Roy Orbison in New Zealand Stars In Their Eyes in 2008, will perform with three others as well as a special guest and promises a great night out at the Matamata Memorial Centre.

‘‘You’ll have an extremely good time. The songs from all your favourite artists will be performed, and they really sound like who they are supposed to be. There will be humour, real interaction with the crowd, spot prize giveaways and raffles.’’ And the evening is for a great cause. ‘‘All proceeds from the concert will go to Matamata Rotary Club for youth and local community projects,’’ he says. ‘‘If the audience walk away smiling then you know you’ve done a good job.’’

Tickets for the concert are available from Paper Plus, Take Note and Super Liquor, although there may be some door sales on the night.
