Final fling farewells Okoroire Hall

South Waikato News - - NEWS -

Okoroire Hall was farewelled in style on Saturday with a final ball themed Now and Then.

The hall has hosted many dances over the years, so organisers felt a ball was a fitting way to farewell the venue, due to be demolished in the near future.

The decision to demolish the hall was made by South Waikato District Council earlier this year following consultation with the Okoroire community.

About 110 ball goers danced the night away to tunes played by Affirmation. Organisers paid tribute to the many helpers who made the evening such a huge success.

Earlier in the day a morning tea was held in the hall where Okoroire residents shared mem- ories of events at the hall.

The Okoroire community will use the hall in Tapapa in future.
