Rotorua armed offenders squad used stun grenades to execute a search warrant at a Dalmeny St address on Friday morning.

Tokoroa Detective Sergeant Kevan Verry said: ‘‘A risk assessment was conducted in line with police policy and it was deemed a matter that needed the AOS assistance. Whilst securing the address several stun grenades were deployed and this is standard when clearing premises of any occupants.’’

The Rotorua armed offenders squad was assisted by the Taupo area investigative staff, whose area includes Tokoroa and Taupo.

Mr Verry could not comment on how many occupants were in the house or whether children were at the address when the search warrant was executed.

He could not confirm if an arrest was made or if the incident was drug related. Mr Verry said the matter was still under investigation.
