Far North visited
Forest View High School’s Polynesian group, Polinetia Fa’atasi, is hitting the road again, the tip of the North Island is the destination.
Former high school student turned teacher Aaron Mutua is excited about taking the group, which he was part of when at school, on tour.
‘‘We went to Australia last year. This year we decided to go up north because a lot of our students said they have never travelled past Auckland so we thought, right, that is our next trip.’’
The group held a final fundraiser on Wednesday night at St Luke’s Pacific Island Church where they revealed their new costumes.
‘‘It was a fantastic night made possible by parents, staff and student helpers.
‘‘Without them this trip would not have been possible.’’
The group left Tokoroa last Thursday, making stops at towns on the way up to perform.
‘‘We will be stopping in Kaikohe, Paihia, Kaitaia, Ahipara, Cape Reinga, Bay of Islands and Auckland.’’
The group will start its fundraising ventures again next year for the overseas tour of Hawaii.
