Two men in intensive care after car crashed off road into bank
Two Tokoroa people were seriously hurt in a car crash in the early hours of Sunday morning in Atiamuri.
The 16-year-old male driver and his passenger, a 23-year-old farmer were travelling in a Toyota Landcruiser on Tirohanga Rd about 1.40am when it left the road and crashed into a bank.
Both were believed to have not been wearing seatbelts and were thrown from the vehicle.
They were transported by Westpac Waikato Air Ambulance to Waikato Hospital. The men were described as being in a serious condition in Waikato Hospital’s intensive care unit yesterday.
It is believed the two men were travelling from a birthday party in the small settlement of Atiamuri.
Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the crash.
