A Toko­roa am­bu­lance was struck by a drunk driver who had mo­ments ear­lier crashed into an­other car.

John Sakopo Ale was fined and dis­qual­i­fied from driv­ing fol­low­ing the ac­ci­dent. The force of the crash wrote off the ve­hi­cle.

The South Waikato com­mu­nity came out in force to help cre­ate a mu­ral as part of the Paint New Zealand Beau­ti­ful cam­paign.

The Keep New Zealand Beau­ti­ful project in­volved the com­mu­nity adding their hand­prints to colour in the mu­ral.

Toko­roa was cho­sen for the project due to its ef­forts to stamp out graf­fiti in the cen­tral busi­ness district.

Kayne La­mont won two ti­tles at the na­tional ju­nior mo­tocross cham­pi­onship.

The Man­gakino rider (pic­tured) was de­scribed as ‘‘sim­ply awe­some’’ by one of his ri­vals.

Ati­a­muri’s Dion Pi­card also claimed a na­tional ti­tle at the event, held near Blen­heim.
