Pethybridge completed 77 activities during the Spring Into Action programme, 10 more than the next most active person, Donna Reid.

The Sport Waikato initiative encouraged people to take part in sporting and exercise activities during a six-week period. Sixty-eight people took part. Pethybridge said she signed on to challenge herself and said she has definitely become more active thanks to the programme.

She took part in the first week ‘‘just for fun’’ but when she found she had attended more activities than anyone else set a goal of doing as many as she could.

Pethybridge tried to attend as many activities as possible and said she particularly enjoyed tennis, kick boxing, lawn bowls and zumba.

Pethybridge said Spring Into Action was ‘‘a pretty cool experience’’ and she enjoyed learning new sports such as tennis and bowls.
