Man­gakino Area School win­ners

Man­gakino Area School held its prize­giv­ing ear­lier this month.

The school’s top scholar was year 12 stu­dent Jent De­los Santos who was the num­ber one stu­dent in NCEA Level 2, fin­ished first in four sub­jects and also re­ceived awards for kapa haka, virtues and the Cot­ton Award for con­tri­bu­tion to the se­nior school.

The awards were pre­sented on De­cem­ber 9 by guest speaker at the event Jenny Forbes. Awards for Years 9 to 13: Year 9 sub­ject awards: Sandy Mackey-Mor­gan, wood technology; Cory Cathro, maths, phys­i­cal ed­u­ca­tion, sci­ence; Re­nee McVarnock, English, health, Maori, art, so­cial stud­ies.

Year 10 sub­ject awards: Shayde Tuiri­rangi, English; Jade Riri, health; Shayal Ku­mar, vis­ual art; Ren­nick Tu­paea, graph­ics, sci­ence, phys­i­cal ed­u­ca­tion, Maori, so­cial stud­ies, French.

NCEA Level 1: Shylo Al­bert, phys­i­cal ed­u­ca­tion; Hemi Pet­ford, English, graph­ics; Sam Tu­paea, hu­man bi­ol­ogy, woodtech; Ker­ilee Tau­pawa, sci­ence, home eco­nom­ics.

NCEA Level 2: Pheobe James, tourism; Nikau Lid­ding­ton, lifeskills, agri­cul­ture; Con­nar Hen­nessey, maths geog­ra­phy; Jent De­los Santos, English, math­e­mat­ics, geog­ra­phy, art.
