Rider holds onto lead go­ing into se­ries fi­nal

Dion Pi­card is fly­ing at the front of the pack in the na­tional su­per­cross se­ries.

The Ati­a­muri rider is lead­ing the Ju­nior Lite 250cc class af­ter three of the four rounds in the cham­pi­onship.

Pi­card fin­ished with a first, sec­ond and a third in the three races at the lat­est round in the se­ries in Motueka on Sun­day.

The re­sults placed Pi­card sec­ond over­all for the Motueka round be­hind Micah McGoldrick, Pi­card’s biggest chal­lenger for the over­all ti­tle but they were enough for Pi­card to keep his over­all lead, which was es­tab­lished af­ter the sec­ond race meet­ing of the se­ries in Taupo ear­lier this month.

At that event Pi­card was dom­i­nant, rid­ing his Suzuki to wins in all three races.

At the se­ries open­ing round in Toko­roa in De­cem­ber Pi­card fin­ished third over­all.

The fi­nal round of the na­tional su­per­cross se­ries will be in Ti­maru on Satur­day.
