2011 events, classes are un­der way

Re­gional Sports Awards

Good luck to Jim McMur­ray and Graeme Bell who will be rep­re­sent­ing the district at the Waikato Re­gional Sports Awards on Thurs­day, Jan­uary 27. Both are mem­bers of the Forest­land Wheel­ers club.

McMur­ray is a nom­i­nee in the 40+ Sportsper­son of the Year cat­e­gory and Bell in the Ref­eree/ Um­pire cat­e­gory.

Tick­ets for the awards are $70 a per­son which in­cludes a meal and drinks and will be held at the Win­tec Atrium on the corner of An­gle­sea and Ward streets start­ing at 6pm.

Tick­ets are on sale from the Sport Waikato of­fice in Hamil­ton phone 07 858 5388. Toko­roa Hash House Har­ri­ers Toko­roa Hash House Har­ri­ers will be meet­ing tonight at Spirit’d bar on Leith Place.

Next week on Wed­nes­day, Jan­uary 26, they will be meet­ing at the Toko­roa Cos­mopoli­tan Club on Bal­moral Drive. The group meets at 6pm for a fun walk/jog/run around a set course. Join the group for some fun, so­cial ac­tiv­ity. Pi­lates Pi­lates classes in Toko­roa for 2011 will be on Tues­days start­ing Fe­bru­ary 8 for level 1, an in­tro­duc­tion to pi­lates and on Wed­nes­day, start­ing Fe­bru­ary 9, for level 2 par­tic­i­pants or ad­vanced pi­lates.

Classes are held at Toko­roa North School hall and run for seven weeks from 6pm to 7.30pm. Cost is just $60 per per­son and $ 50 for re­peat par­tic­i­pants.

Par­tic­i­pants will need to bring an ex­er­cise mat, wa­ter bot­tle and small towel.

Pi­lates ex­er­cise com­bines mind and body to pro­vide a safe and ef­fec­tive work­out for the en­tire body. Fo­cus is on core sta­bil­ity en­abling max­i­mum body con­trol, flex­i­bil­ity and strength­en­ing.

It is a low im­pact class suit­able for most fit­ness lev­els.

This free course cov­ers healthy cook­ing op­tions on a bud­get.
