Ballet tour in Putaruru
The Royal New Zealand Ballet is to perform in Putaruru in March.
The show at The Plaza is part of the company’s Tower Tutus on Tour series of shows.
Tutus on Tour is the Royal New Zealand Ballet’s opportunity to share what they do with as many New Zealanders as possible.
Every two years the company divides in half and one group heads south and the other north.
Over the following six weeks the two groups perform in more than 40 towns and cities.
Each performance includes two shows. In 2011 these are Pinocchio and classical ballet in the form of the Verdi Variations.
Pinocchio is an interpretation, aimed at families, of the classic Pinocchio story about a wooden puppet who wishes to be a real boy.
The Verdi Variations features more of a classical ballet style with traditional tutus and several solo and duet performances.
Tickets to the Royal New Zealand Ballet performance are already available.
