Work is under way on pylons for the project at Arapuni, the site of fierce opposition to the planned pylons from South Waikato District Council and residents of the township.

The pylons under construction, pictured, are among about 99 to be built across the South Waikato.

Work began on pylons in the South Waikato last year but until now has largely taken place in forestry blocks.
