Mayor calls for pride in properties

South Waikato News - - NEWS -

South Waikato District Mayor Neil Sinclair is urging Tokoroa residents to take some pride in the appearance of their community, in particular their lawns.

Mr Sinclair said he was disappointed at how many properties he had found throughout Tokoroa and Putaruru with overgrown lawns or verges.

Mr Sinclair said he had found 100 properties in the district, 70 in Tokoroa and 30 in Putaruru with overgrown grass.

It was not realistic, he said, to expect the council to mow verges as if council did this for some properties it would be expected to mow all verges.

The cost would be prohibitive, he said. Instead he is asking residents to ‘‘take pride‘‘ in how their properties looked.
