Celebrities’ efforts at icing to be tested
The South Waikato Girl Guides association are having a celebrity cake off in a bid to raise funds for their annual Girl Guide jubilee early next year.
The local Girl Guides will bake and decorate cakes which will be judged by the celebrity guests.
The celebrity guests will then face off in a cake decorating competition. The cakes will be auctioned at the end of the night.
There will also be a jubilee memorabilia auction which will include camp blankets, survival kit, pocket knife and much more.
The event, to be held on Saturday at the Putaruru Plaza, will include big names like Cameron Petley and Tracy Lee from New Zealand Masterchef, Local MP Louise Upston, Putaruru event extraordinaire Annie Waterworth as well as Anne Bourbon, Paul Strange, Jenny McKenzie, TC Rata, police officer Murray Hamilton and South Waikato News editor Florence Kerr.
South Waikato Girl Guides district co-ordinator Maria Patterson said the idea for the event came from the guide leaders.
‘‘We decided to have a cake fundraiser then the idea flourished from there.’’
Editor Florence said it would be a great night out.
‘‘I encourage all of our district to get down to the Putaruru Plaza on Saturday evening to support this worthwhile cause. Although my decorating and icing skills are terrible I can guarantee a great night out for the family.’’
The celebrity spectacular will begin at 7pm, free entry.
SPECIAL GUEST: Celebrity Cameron Petley will also put his icing skills to the test this Saturday at the Putaruru Plaza.
